In His Time

In His Time

“He makes all things beautiful in His time.” But when things get whacked up it’s so easy for me to forget about the fact that God has His own timeline in which He operates around. As I reflect on myself in an honest manner, I come to see that: 1. I can be impatient and 2. I can be very demanding. And yet people say I exude patience because of the way I treat them or allow them to treat me. Shame on me, I am praised by people for this but I wonder what God thinks about my often almost non-existent patience. If there’s anyone who deserves the best of me the most, it’s Him and no one else.

God’s timing and Him turning the bad for our good are two of the things that we hold on to as Christians. These aren’t just fluffy ideas. They are promises given by God to those who are His. These are some of the privileges we get to enjoy because of being in Christ – not because we deserve it but because He is good, loving and gracious. The way God loves was never based on our performance yet at the same time He is also a rewarder of our faith and perseverance. “In His time, in His time, He makes all things beautiful in His time..” this will always be one of the songs that I will hold dear in my heart from the time I first heard it as a child. But this frail and often wandering heart needs to remember that it’s more than a song. It’s a promise. And God is trustworthy so no matter what, this shall remain true.

I hope for you (if you’re reading this) and for myself that amidst all the dreams and hopes that we may have in this life, that we will not fail to see that:

  • God has His own timeline
  • When things “go wrong”, it is not the end of our story but it is an avenue for God to work in our situation. He will cause it to work in our favor no matter how bad it looks!

The biggest struggle, for me personally, is trusting Him when the going gets tough. But I’m so grateful that even in that He helps us have the faith and courage we need to keep going if we ask Him in faith. We may not know when and if we’ll ever see all our prayers come to fruition. But we can take comfort that all the best things that God has in mind for us will unfold in His time and that His timing is always the best.
