But it seems right..

But it seems right..

Happy Monday ☀️

I wrote this on a Monday morning, so don’t be surprised if you read this on another day! First of all, I’d like to thank you for dropping by. I appreciate the time you’re taking to stop and read what I may have to share right here.

Initially, I was going to open one of my Bible readings and digest from there. But for some reason, a thought which I think came from a Bible verse popped into my head so randomly. “There is a way that seems right to a man but in the end is destruction”. And as always, I didn’t want to trust my memory gap (hello dory brain!) so I searched the Scriptures to see if it’s really from there. Plus, I have to admit. I’m not one of those people who would think that EVERYTHING that pops into my head is the Holy Spirit’s Word. I’d always make sure to test it because who knows, I’m human after all, right? How can I fully trust me?

So I looked it up and found this (thank God haha): it’s a bible verse and it actually came straight out of Proverbs 14:12. I have no idea why but I’ll take this as a guideline that I know I won’t only need now but always.

While this verse may be mainly talking about eternal destruction, I believe the principle behind it still applies to things that we deal with on a daily basis. After all, we are finite beings: short-sighted, often falling short and have the tendencies of allowing ourselves to be misled by another blind man.

So here’s something important to keep in mind not just this week but for always: As Christians, we need to BE DISCERNING.

What is discernment? Discernment, is the ability to make sound judgments based on a deep insight or wisdom. According to the Bible it is the ability to distinguish between what is right and wrong, what is good and evil as well as what is true or false. All these in the light of God’s guidance and wisdom.

There are things that seems right, feels right or give us “the signs” but are actually a pathway to an impending disaster. How do we know if it’s actually from God?

  • Check with God’s WORD: What does God say about this? Is this something The Bible speaks about? What is it saying? Are there principles that we can learn from the Bible that would apply similarly to the circumstance we’re facing?
  • Let’s PRAYERFULLY consider things and be inquiring of GOD: Lord, is this what You would have me do? Speak into my heart and mind if this isn’t from You. Remove this from me and lead me to Your will. Give me a heart that can discern what YOU want for me. Lead me to Your way and help me to trust You in it. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Historically and evidence-wise, we are known to often fail in making the right judgments. As flawed human beings, we are unable to see beyond what’s right in front of us – only God has that ability. So before we confidently proceed with what we believe is right, let’s confirm it with God and seek His perspective. He is perfect is His ways and He is all-knowing, don’t you think He’s worthy of such trust more than ourselves?
