Pastors Appreciation Month

Pastors Appreciation Month

It’s #PastorsAppreciationMonth and although we shouldn’t just speak of these kind words only when they’re being celebrated, I’m delighted to have this opportunity to share my heartfelt thoughts about them.

Growing up, I’ve met and known a lot of pastors in my life and each of them has left a mark in my spiritual journey in wonderful ways – one of them, being my dad, who has molded me since I was just a kid. Just like him, all of the pastors I’ve known and admired do not display a life of extravagance and materialism. Though none of them were ever close to perfect, they humbly stayed the course of obedience for the Lord Jesus Christ even if it meant not reaching for worldly dreams and aspirations.

Ultimately, I believe that is is by the grace of God that they are able to continually make the decision to follow Him most especially when they least feel like it. Yes, because pastors are a work in progress just like the rest of us. But those whom God has called for that position holds them towards a high level of accountability that the rest of us may not relate as much. Yet they are STILL humans, who needs covered by prayers, support, love and ACCOUNTABILITY even as they lead God’s people. They need us alongside of them to work hand in hand with them in the pursuit of Christ’s command and calling.

So as fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, let us not neglect to pray for our pastors. Let us NOT look at them the way we look at Christ yet at the same time let us actively take part in encouraging them to continue towards the path of righteousness as they shepherd and teach us. And let us be willing to work alongside of them (and their loved ones and other fellow servants) in serving Christ as they aren’t the only ones called to serve, but the rest of us as well.

So to all the pastors, including my own father..

WE APPRECIATE YOU and we desire nothing but that by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that you will continually live a life worthy of the calling that Christ has set for you. You have and always will have our support, prayers and love in the Lord.

God bless you!

Love in Christ, Christine
